Eddie is 14 weeks old today.
He can smile, and does so often. He can laugh, sometimes. He can roll from back to side regularly. He HAS rolled from back to front once but didn't much care for it.
He can reach for toys, when he feels the inclination to do so. Mostly he prefers to observe. He can wear sunglasses and enjoy them. He can drink from a sippy cup, though his technique needs improvement. He can support his own head steadily, barring sudden unexpected movements from whoever/whatever is holding him. He can support his own weight on his legs. Balance will come later.
He has conversational moments, and will chatter to whoever or whatever is handy: Daddy, his seahorse, the ceiling fan, his own reflection. He once talked to himself for half an hour in his crib after a nap.
He has given at least two hickies: one to my chin and one to his own wrist. He has felt the rasp of cat tongue on his arm, though I doubt he knew what it was. He and the cats have studied each other intently. I'm sure there are many more meetings in his future.
He prefers to use the potty rather than his diaper and will hold his poo until the potty presents itself whenever possible. He's got astonishing bladder control, and is working on capacity.
He can eat milk 'popsicles' in mesh feeder bags and gets them to his mouth almost all the time. He will happily gnaw on his bib if you let him. It doesn't have to be clean at the time; he's not picky.
He will often wake from a nap in the living room, look around to make sure Mommy or Daddy are still there, and then settle down for another snooze.
If he has a bad dream or other nighttime upset, a cuddle with Mommy puts everything right again.
He's so awesome.
