Potty training, at six weeks?!?

Yes, we have started potty training Edward, through a method called Elimination Communication.

It really started by accident, as we noticed he would often do a poop just after a change, or a pee during a change. To avoid the dire consequences of these events, I started holding Edward over a sink as soon as his dirty diaper had been removed, and often he'll reward me with a poop or a pee directly into the sink. Much praise and many smiles are exchanged, and we're altogether underlining this as a good thing.

Yesterday we went over to Target (they have a better baby section than WalMart) and acquired a Baby Bjorn potty and a Secure Comfort Potty Seat by Munchkin. Beth checked online reviews and chose the former using that information. The latter fits into a standard toilet seat to reduce the hole size and won't be usable by Edward for a year or so yet, but our nephew Evan is coming to visit in about a month, and he may be able to use it then.
