Second Birthday

Ed's second Birthday started early with cake, made by Beth.

Ed loves cake.

and he loves cutting cake.

and naturally, eating cake.

Time to open a few presents next, Uncle C and Auntie M gave him some farm animals

and a carry case that turns into a floor mat to carry them in.

A quick play outside with the sand table, or rather getting trapped by the lid.

At James' Airplane-themed party. This neat plane is both a seesaw or teeter totter.

Ed took a solo flight before things got too crowded.

On the bouncy castle with Liam. Ed didn't really get into the bouncing and soon exited.

He did get into the dry paddling pool, via the slide, and proceeded to empty the pool of balloons.

Very interested in the chickens. Eddie really wanted to get in there and hug them.

Any time is snack time. Ed choose the chair and climbed up by himself, he's very into climbing furniture.

Back home, and now the light is better Beth sets up the annual birthday photo.

Beth is very good at pulling faces to make Edward laugh.

Off to Phoebe's party after a refreshing and much-needed nap, Ed plays with one of his presents, an electronic fiddle/guitar. Pull on the neck and it opens up. Beth found this for $3.50 at an estate sale during Edward's nap.

Phoebe has a raised sensory table. Ours is floor based, but Beth is thinking of making a base for it. Edward loves pouring, and stuck at this long after the other kids moved on.

He also loves bubble,s especially eating bubble solution, or maybe he just hasn't quite got the blowing thing right yet.

Phoebe's cake was a tiramasu and cream affair. The big kid on the left is me. Phoebe is the little one in the middle. I was there to stop Ed escaping because he wasn't too sure about the set up, but he settled quickly. We missed photos of James' cake because Ed got upset when everyone burst into singing, and we had to rush to comfort him.

Ed is pulling his 'not sure about this' face. His face is very expressive, which is probably true of all toddlers, but Edward more so.

Towards the end of Phoebe's party Ed discovered this hammer and chute toy. You hammer the balls down and they roll down the chute and pop out at the bottom. Beth cleverly put a paper plate underneath to catch the balls, and Edward spent over half an hour hammering the balls, picking them out and putting them back, and hammering again.

Form then on, regardless of the mayhem around him, Eddie focussed on his task.

Sitting center picture Elizabeth, due in August, chats with Elizabeth, due in August.
Just to clarify, Elizabeth is the one with long dark hair, who has a child with a birthday on 23rd March.
Ed hammers on regardless.
