During the day when Eddie is awake, frankly I'm too busy minding him to be posting on the blog. When he's napping, that's my opportunity to do non-baby things - sorting clothes washing, loading/unloading the dishwasher, mowing the lawn, sitting still with a glazed expression or whatever, and I don't want to be stuck on a computer screen. When Beth gets home, we've both tired and not really in the mood for blogging.
Ed has cut his first tooth, in fact two now, both poking through the gum but not fully out yet. That's causing him some discomfort and whining and drooling naturally, and that gets passed onto us, especially the drool which never seems to stop.
He's trying to crawl, but mostly going backwards or in circles still, though there is occasional forward progress in small measure, so I think in the next month or two he'll be mobile, and that'll add a whole new aspect to baby minding.
Our night time routine is going to have to change soon as he won't fit in the cosleeper much longer, and will have to transfer to his crib and his own room. We're starting to wean him (and ourselves) off our various sleep aids, mostly white noise and swaddling during the day, so he gets used to falling asleep on his own and in his own room.
Actual night time is still three or so wakings/changes/feedings, with the additional fun of teething making Ed cry out miserably sometimes just as he's nodding off. Beth usually administers the necessary reassuring cuddles, and once he's good and sleepy he nods off. We're still very lucky that he goes back to sleep with no effort after a night time feed or change, even one that requires sitting on the potty. We know that many babies, once awoken, can take hours to soothe back to sleep.
Next week he goes for another round of inoculations, this time with just Dad to accompany him. He's been so good with them so far that we're willing to take the very small risk that he won't be comforted afterwards.
